What does it mean to observe the Sabbath in a modern, meaningful way? In our fast-paced, always-connected world, we need Shabbat more than ever. This ancient Jewish practice offers a powerful antidote: rest, presence, and renewal. Together, we’ll explore what Shabbat can look like today—for liberal Jews seeking depth, intention, and connection in their weekly rhythm.
This Community of Practice will meet monthly on Zoom for a blend of study, discussion, and personal reflection, with opportunities to explore our own evolving Shabbat practices.

Seeing Yourself in the Sacred Story
A Creative Midrash Community
With Rabbi Leah Berkowitz
Midrash is the art of bringing our own voices to the text, reimagining sacred stories to reflect the questions and challenges of our time. It is one of the oldest – and also the newest – Jewish acts.
This Community of Practice will meet monthly to explore Midrash, both reading and writing. We’ll read stories from the Bible through the lens of creative interpretation, and ask how the sacred story can hold up a mirror for us to see ourselves, or offer a window into someone else’s experience. Each session will include a writing prompt and time to create and share our own original midrash.
Meets monthly, on a Tuesday at Noon ET /9am PT
October to June
Cost: Sliding scale from $250 to $450
